WHERE
ARE THEY MADE?
Nanaimo,
BC, Canada. Call Kurt or Astrid at 250 751 0625.
WHAT
ARE THEY MADE OF?
Pewter
is an alloy (a combination of metals). These pewter pendants
are made from a combination of tin, copper and
antimony. They do not contain lead.
WILL
I BE ALLERGIC TO THEM?
Probably
not. Many people are allergic to nickel, but we don't use
nickel in our alloy.
WILL
THEY TARNISH? HOW CAN I CLEAN THEM?
Pewter
develops a patina over time. Most people like this slightly
darker look. It shows the piece has a history. If you do not
like this - or if it has developed unevenly - it is easy to
shine the piece. Scrub the front with a scotchbrite pad or
steel wool (like you clean your pots). Go up and down the
piece from top to bottom leaving a vertical, parallel-lined
scratch finish. You can use soap and water if you want, but
polish is not necessary.
HOW
LONG IS THE CORD? WILL IT FIT ME?
The
black, waxed cotton cords are fastened with our adjustable
slip grips. You can wear the
piece either long or short. It should fit most people as the
cord itself is 28 inches. If you have an enormous neck and
need it longer, send us an e-mail.
CAN
I WEAR THEM IN THE SHOWER?
Sure.
No problem getting them wet. Frequent swimming in chlorine
or salt water will fade the cord, but the pendant will be
fine and replacement cords are available.
CAN
I GET A REPLACEMENT CORD?
Yes.
Cords with slip grips are $4.95 each. Please go to our order
form. The grips come already assembled and are easy to attach
to the piece.
ARE
THE CHARACTERS CHINESE OR JAPANESE?
Both. There are three alphabets in Japanese. Two of the alphabets,
hiragana and katakana, are phonetic. The third alphabet is
called kanji - which are characters originally from China.
They are pronounced differently in Chinese and Japanese, but
look the same and have the same meaning.
